William A. Snedeker III of Bedford

William A. Snedeker III of Bedford died peacefully on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the age of 84.

Born in Waltham, he was the son of the late William and Alice Snedeker. He was a graduate of St. Charles High School, class of 1947 and he briefly attended Boston College.

He lived in Bedford with his beloved wife Janice where they raised their family. He was a small business owner who began his career at Ark-Less Switch Corporation in Watertown, then opened his own steel rule die company, Nu-Die Graphics in Stoughton; he retired in 2005.

He greatly enjoyed his business career, following sporting events, reading, and socializing with family and friends. Some of his fondest memories were of sailboating trips taken in the Gloucester area with family and friends. He greatly enjoyed time spent socializing with his brother Jack.

Mr. Snedeker was preceased by his wife Janice R. (Silva). Loving father of William Snedeker IV and his wife Sandra of Richmond, ME; Thomas Snedeker of Billerica; and Paul Snedeker and his wife Cynthia of Billerica. Grandfather of Brian, Brianna, Jennifer, Scott, and Matthew. Brother of John Snedeker and his wife Eileen of Waltham. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 11am in Shawsheen Funeral Home. Visiting hours are in the funeral home on Friday, May 17, 2013 from 4pm to 8pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.   

Carl A. Bumbaca of Bedford

Carl A. Bumbaca of Bedford died on May 9, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Jean (McDonald) for 62 years. Loving father of Gina M. Jarzembowski of Bedford, Glen Bumbaca and his wife Carol of Salem NH, Joseph J. Bumbaca and his wife Patricia of Salem NH, and Bob "Sticky" Bumbaca of Bedford. Loving grandfather of Ryan Jarzembowski, Alex Jarzembowski, Carl Bumbaca, and Lisa Bumbaca. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Son of the late Mary (Ireno) and Joseph Bumbaca, Carl is also pre-deceased by his four siblings.

Carl was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and member of American Legion Post #221. He was a retired Boston Gas employee.

Born in Italy on Oct. 25, 1925, Irma was the daughter of the late Enrico Mauriello and Assunta (Meola). She was the beloved wife of the late Pellegrino Cerchione.

Loving mother of Domenic Cerchione and his wife Maria of Bedford, Gianfranco A. Cerchione and Nancy Valenti of Bedford, Elio Cerchione of Malden, and Ornella Cerchione and Manuel Costa of Bedford. She was also the devoted grandmother of Domenic, Lisa, Michael, Stephanie, Stephen, Deanna, and the late beloved Anthony. She is also survived by one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Edward Bland of Tewksbury

Edward Bland, age 64 of Tewksbury, died on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford. 

Born in Lowell on Dec. 22, 1948, Mr. Bland was a disabled veteran, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam. He is survived by his sister Doreene Wood of Quincy, CA.

Birchall, Doris E. of Billerica, formerly of Bedford

Doris E. Birchall of Billerica, formerly of Bedford, died on April 17, 2013. 

She was the  beloved mother of Michael Birchall of Billerica. Loving grandmother to Gerald Bowes, Justin Birchall, and Jordan Birchall, all of Billerica. Also survived by daughter-in-law Bonnie Birchall; and sisters, Judy Sumulski, Diane Harlow, and Susan Brown and brothers, Frank Brown, David Brown, Jeff Brown, and Billy Brown; and several nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late Frank and Ethel (Farnam) Brown.

Robert A. "Bob" Larsen of Pepperell, formerly of Bedford

Robert A. "Bob" Larsen of Pepperell, formerly of Bedford, died on April 4, 2013 at age 52.

He was the beloved husband of Maria (Camara) and loving father of Alicia, Brittany, and Robert A. Larsen Jr., all of Pepperell. Brother of Linda Wollenberg of Bedford, William A. Larsen (Bob’s twin) of Westford, and John E. Larsen of Tyngsboro; and brother of the late Debra Larsen and Charles H. Larsen.

Loving son of Joan (Tyler) Larsen of Bedford and the late Charles F. Larsen. Bob is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Graduate of Bedford High School, Class of 1978.

Steven E. Williams, formerly of Bedford, died on March 29, 2013.

He is survived by his daughter Tina Williams and son Steven Jr. and siblings, Donna Beecy and Tommy Williams.

Donald W. Foley, retired Bedford Firefighter

Donald W. Foley, age 82, of Bedford and Chelmsford, died peacefully with his family by his side on March 11, 2013 at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veteran's Hospital in Bedford. He was the husband of the late Jean M. (Fraser) Foley.

Mr. Foley was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict (1950-1954) and a retired Bedford Firefighter (32 years of service). He built his own cottage in Maine. He will be remembered by his family, many nieces, nephews, cousins and life-long friends. .

Survived by his four daughters: Cameron Foley of Chelmsford, Dale Fallabella and her husband Jon of Maynard and East Burke, VT, Judy Church and her husband Rusty, of Salisbury Beach, and Nancy J. Foley of Dunstable. He has three beloved grandchildren, William P. Sickles of Chelmsford (wife Christina), Joanna Sickles of Marlborough and Douglas Church of Salisbury; and one great-grandson, William A. Sickles also of Chelmsford.

Brother of Charles U. Foley of Newburyport, David Foley of Newbury, Evelyn Hunt and Emily Brennan of Wolfboro, NH, the late Thelma Stanwood and Dana Foley.

Family and friends attended a Memorial Service on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at American Legion Post #221 in Bedford.  

Joseph W. Ricardelli, a life-long resident of Bedford

Joseph W. Ricardelli of Bedford died peacefully at home on March 11, 2013 at the age of 89. He was the beloved husband of the late Laura G. (Lombardo) Ricardelli.

Loving father of Joseph W. Ricardelli and his wife Anne of Burlington and Robert J. Ricardelli and his wife Bonnie of Dunstable. Cherished grandfather of Beth, Joanne, Mary, and Daniel Ricardelli. Brother of Frank Ricardelli of Chelmsford and the late Emily Lentine of Bedford. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

A life-long resident of Bedford, he was a WWII U.S. Navy vetern of the Battle of Normandy and the South Pacific.

The Funeral will be held from Shawsheen Funeral Home on Friday March 15, 2013 at 8am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Michael’s Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford at 9am. Funeral home visiting hours will be on Thursday March 14, 2013 from 4 to 8pm. Relatives and friends are invited. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name to your favorite charity are appreciated.  

Jane E. Healer of Bedford

Jane E. Healer of Bedford died on Saturday, March 2, 2013.

Jane was the loving daughter of the late Carl and Rose (Yeran) Healer and twin sister of the late Joyce Healer.

Jane was the loving sister of Maritza Healer of Chelmsford. She is also survived by a niece Michelle Wells of Chelmsford and cousin Beverly Panjian of Arlington.

Richard L. Fedele of Bedford, US Navy Veteran and retired Raytheon employee

Richard L. Fedele of Bedford died on Feb. 22, 2013. A 1965 graduate of Waltham High School, he was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and one of the first crewmen on the USS John F. Kennedy. He was an active member of Bedford's American Legion Post #221 and was employed for many years by Raytheon. He enjoyed fishing, archery, cooking, and was a collector of antiques. He loved his family very much.

Richard was the beloved father of Richard L. Fedele Jr. and his wife Caroline of Bedford and Brian K. Fedele and his wife Gina N. of Bedford. Loving grandfather to Shayla J. Fedele and Richard J. Fedele. Former husband of Linda J. (DiGregorio) Fedele. Predeceased by his mother Angelina and father Pasquale; brother Patrick Fedele; and sister Linda O’Connell. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Michael's Church in Beford on Wednesday, February 27, 2013. Burial was in Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford. 

Patricia "Patsy" L. (Counihan) Golomb, a resident of Bedford for 45 years

Patricia "Patsy" L. (Counihan) Golomb, a 45-year resident of Bedford, died on February 5, 2013. She was the beloved wife of Joseph J. Golomb Sr. for 58 years. 

Loving mother of Charlene Golomb and her wife Kris Filan of Boston, Joseph J. Golomb Jr. and his wife Karen E. of Chelmsford, and Carl Golomb of Clearwater, FL. Patsy is survived by two sisters, Marie Gould of FL and Helen Archer and her husband Ralph of NJ. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, loving cousins and dear friends.

Patsy worked for many years at Marshall's as well as ESA Inc. of Bedford. Family and friends gathered in Shawsheen Funeral Home on Monday, February 11, 2013.

Helen A. (Stigora) Ahern of Bedford 

Helen A. (Stigora) Ahern of Bedford died on February 2, 2013. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis L. Ahern.

Loving mother of Leslie and her husband Sal Spatola of Middletown, CT and Kathy and her husband Brad Towne of Acton. Loving grandmother of 6 and great-grandmother of 4. Also survived by a sister, Mildred Schultz and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours and a funeral service were held in Shawsheen Funeral Home on Wednesday February 6, 2013.   

Carroll H. Dunham, Proprietor of Dunham's Bookstore in Bedford for 40 years 

Carroll H. Dunham, an 88-year resident of Bedford, died on January 28, 2013. He was the devoted husband of the late Grace (Martin) Dunham.

Carroll moved to Bedford from Somerville in 1924 when he was 9 years old and remained a resident thereafter. He and his wife, the late Grace Dunham, opened Dunham's Bookstore in 1960 at 34 South Road and a few years later moved the business to The Great Road location, operating until 2000. He was 85 years old when he closed the store but he continued to buy and sell books for the remaining 12 years of his life.  

He is the beloved father of Allan R. Dunham and his wife Marie of Pepperell and Rev. Dr. Lorrie Dunham of Bedford. He is also survived by six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard L. Dunham of Lunenberg and a sister, C. Elizabeth Hicks of Dixon, Illinois.

Family and friends gathered in Shawsheen Funeral Home on Saturday, February 2, 2012. A Service of Remembrance was held, officiated by Joe Cleveland of Bedford's First Parish. A private burial in Shawsheen Cemetery will occur at a later date.  

Winifred A. (Fitzgerald) Sullivan, former Town of Bedford employee

Winifred A. (Fitzgerald) Sullivan, 83 years old, died peacefully on January 28, 2013 in Quincy. A former resident of Bedford and Somerville, she was the beloved wife of the late Lt. Francis J. Sullivan (a retiree of the Bedford Police Deptment).

Loving mother of Nancy F. and her husband Seamus P. Buckley of Dorchester; Michael P. Sullivan of Yonkers, NY; and Robert K. and his wife Shannon L. Sullivan of Arlington, VA. Devoted “Nana” of Deirdre G. and Seamus M. Buckley of Dorchester and Luke T. and Liam M. Sullivan of Arlington, VA. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Winifred was a former employee of the Town of Bedford and Sylvania Corp.

Rev. Fr. Mark S. Sheehan conducted Commital Prayers at a graveside service on Saturday, February 2, 2013 in Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford. A contingency from the Brooklyn (NYC) Fire Department attended.

Hugh "Buddy" Irwin Hunt, of CT and formerly of Bedford

Hugh Irwin Hunt, age 89 of Goshen, CT, formally of Orange, CT, died on Wednesday January 24, 2013. He was born at home in Bedford, son of Charles E. and Lona P. Hunt, on December 15, 1923. The youngest of six, Hugh, known as Buddy, went to school in Bedford through junior high, and high school in Lexington. On April 1, 1941 Bud missed the bus to school and walked 27 miles to join the US Army at Fort Devens, known only to the entire Callahan family.

Hugh served in the U.S. Army from 1941-1945 in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater. He participated in D-Day at Normandy, the liberation of Paris and the Battle of the Bulge. For his service he was awarded three bronze battle stars.

Hugh founded Ground Support Products, turning it into a successful business. After retiring in 2005 he served as a consultant until his final days.

He is survived by son Skip; daughters, Jacqueline, Robyn, Alexandra, Samantha, Christina and Katherine; and by 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his sister Marie.
Predeceased by sisters, Evelyn and Bernice, and two brothers.

Flowers or memorial donations to the Jimmy Fund, c/o Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168, are welcome.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 28, 2013 in Shawsheen Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Shawsheen Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield, CT.
  

Rebecca A. (Patchin) Woessner of Carleton Willard Village

Rebecca A. (Patchin) Woessner of Beford's Carleton Willard Village died on January 17, 2013 at the age of 83. Born in Tullahoma, TN, Rebecca was a homemaker. She was the wife of the late Donald E. Woessner.

Services were private.

Thomas O. Casteel of Lynn

Thomas O. Casteel, age 68, of Lynn, formerly of Portsmouth, NH and Boston, died on January 13, 2013, in Bedford, MA. Born October 15, 1944, in Portsmouth, NH, Tom was the son of the late Donald and Lucile (Hill) Casteel. Mr. Casteel was a graduate of Portsmouth High School, Class of 1962.  He served in the U.S. Navy in the 1960s, and thereafter worked in the restaurant and hospitality industry. 
  
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Donnell and her husband John of N. Hampton, NH and Darece Bergman and her husband Jim of Lenexa, KS. Predeceased by his sister Donna Dricoll. He is also survived by ten beloved nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

Tom, ever a warm, positive, affectionate person, was a lover of the arts and great wit, who reveled to the end in the joy of living. Funeral services are private. Donations in his memory can made to the Friday Night Supper Program in Boston, at www.fridaynightsupper.org

Edwin A. Hanson, Sr., formerly of Bedford

Hanson.jpgEdwin A. Hanson, Sr., age 91 of Wayland, formerly of Bedford and Ocala, FL died on January 10, 2013 at the Wayland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born February 20, 1921 in Quincy, MA, son of the late Emil and Isabella (DeForest) Hanson. He was a graduate of North Quincy High School, class of 1939. Mr. Hanson was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran (USS YP423). He enjoyed boating, sailing, and flying for many years; singing in the Sounds of Concord Barbershop Chorus and church choirs; as well as family vacations and outings.

He was affectionately known as "Mr. Fantastic" by his loving and caring nurses and staff at Wayland Nursing and Rehab.

Mr. Hanson leaves five sons: Edwin Jr. and his wife Karen of Oviedo, FL; Kenneth and his wife Diane of Columbia, SC; Jeffrey of Bethel, VT; Philip and his wife Rachel of Billerica; and Eric of Pepperell; two daughters: Paula Hall and her husband James of Irmo, SC; and Carolyn Bernard and her husband George of Wayland; 25 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Arline (Larson) of Bedford and his wife of 24 years, Frances (Lucas) of Ocala, FL and one son, Gary Peter Hanson of Bedford.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Bedford.

Richard Tassi

Richard Tassi, age 91, died on Dec. 28, 2012. A U.S. Navy veteran who served in WWII, Mr. Tassi was a Machinist for many years.

He is survived by his son, Richard J. Tassi of Saugas.  

Charles C. Stone of Bedford

Charles C. Stone, age 72 of Bedford, died on Dec. 27, 2012.

Born in Boydell, Arkansas on July 29, 1940, Charles was the husband of Marilyn J. Stone of Bedford. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and worked in the biotech industry. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children.

Marie "Mary" G. (Poretta) Marchesini of Bedford

Marie “Mary” G. (Poretta) died on Dec. 22, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Bruno Marchesini.

Loving mother of David Marchesini and his wife Joyce of Bedford, John Marchesini and his wife Regina of Gig Harbor, WA, and Judi Lynn Marchesini and her fiancée Stephen Smith of Plum Island. Loving grandmother of Christina, Noelle, Samantha, Andrea, and Jarred Marchesini. Sister of Carl Poretta and his wife Connie. Also survived by beloved nieces and nephews, a caring friend Kathy B. and many dear friends.

Anne M. (Gillingham) Butler of Lexington

Anne M. (Gillingham) Butler of Lexington died on Dec. 18, 2012. She was the wife of the late Robert A. Butler Sr. and a past town of Lexington employee in the tax office.

Loving mother of Robert A. Butler Jr. and his wife Marian of Westford and grandmother of Robert A. Butler III and Michael S. Butler and his wife Gretchen. Sister of Charlotte Gillingham Barnstead of Lexington, Barbara Gillingham Weisensee of Tewksbury, and the late Gordon Gillingham.

A Funeral Service was held on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 in Shawsheen Funeral Home. Burial was in Westview Cemetery in Lexington. 

Joan F. (Colby) Wright of Bedford, retired Town of Bedford employee

Joan F. (Colby) Wright of Bedford died on Dec. 4, 2012 after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Norman Wright.

Loving mother of Suzanne and her husband Samuel Densmore of Byfield, Norman C. Wright and his wife Heather of Chelmsford, Matthew C. Wright and his wife Kathleen of Littleton, and predeceased by a baby boy, Stephen. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; sisters, Constance Schoorens of Ayer and Gail Rufo of Malden; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Wright was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a retired employee of the Town of Bedford having worked in the Tax Collector's office.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 in St. Michael’s Church, Bedford; Reverend Fr. Mark Sheehan was the Celebrant. Burial followed in Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford.

Lila E. Wasson, a former Bedford resident, died on Dec. 1, 2012. She was the wife of the late Robert P. Wasson, Sr.

Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon, MA on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012 at 2pm. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend.

Joanne Olive (Robbins) Callahan, 77 of Bedford, formerly of Carlisle

Joanne Olive (Robbins) Callahan, 77 of Bedford, MA died peacefully and surrounded by loved ones at her daughter’s home in Poland Spring, ME on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012.

Born on April 7, 1935 in Wakefield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Margaret Gorley Robbins and Joseph Robbins. Following her father’s death, Joanne was raised by her Mom and step-father Arthur P. O’Connell, attending Wakefield and Melrose public schools.

Joanne met and married the love of her life, Alfred Callahan, and they raised six children together in Carlisle, MA. While raising their children, Joanne worked for Digital Equipment Corporation and later, for Sentry Insurance for 15 years. She retired from Lex Insurance.  She immediately began many wonderful years volunteering at Emerson Hospital.

Joanne's amazing amount of energy, love of being surrounded by family, friends and community, and her ever ready smile and words of good cheer brought life to all of her volunteer efforts and those who knew her. She was a world traveler with her large circle of friends for many years, traveling to Aruba, Greece, Ireland, France, Bermuda, Branson Missouri and Las Vegas. But her deepest love was her cottage on Frye Island in Sebago Lake, Maine, where many delightful summer days were spent with her family, grandchildren and friends.

She was forever an enthusiastic Red Sox fan, following every game and personality.

Survivors include five daughters and one son: Karen Kenny and husband Joe of Amherst, NH; Terri Young and husband Steve of Poland Spring, ME; Jeanne Bufalino of MD; Glenn Callahan and wife Renate of Johnson, VT, Jennifer Hartai and husband Tom of Bedford, MA; and Joanna Geltz and husband Brian of Hudson, NH. She leaves 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; her brothers Frank Robbins and his wife Gerry of FL, Richard Robbins and his wife June of North Reading, John Robbins and his wife Arlene of FL, and her sister Peggy Genetti Asaro and her husband Bill of Medford. She also leaves behind her dear friend Ginny Doherty of Waltham and 1 beloved cat, Alfie. She was predeceased by her husband Alfred Callahan with his untimely death in 1988, her parents, her sister Janice, and her brother Ronald.

Family and friends are invited to gather in Shawsheen Funeral Home, 281 Great Rd., Bedford on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 from 10am to noon. A Memorial Service to celebrate the joyful life of Joanne will be at 11:00am in the funeral home.

Cewilla Schiesser of Harpswell, ME; formerly of Bedford

Cewilla Schiesser, age 81, of Harpswell, ME, passed away on October 22, 2012 at her home after a 10 year struggle with cancer.

Cewilla was born on August 13, 1931, daughter of the late Ollie and Elsie Selvage of Guntersville, AL. She met her husband while he was in the Army stationed at the Army’s Missile Guidance School at Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL. She was a secretary for Dieter Grau, a part of the German Scientists that worked on Squirrel Hill in Redstone Arsenal developing the Army’s and eventually NASA’s (Moon) Missiles.

Married in 1954 in Huntsville, AL, they moved to several locations in Massachusetts: Brighton, Waltham, Bedford, and Belmont, while both worked at MIT. She worked for the Dynamic Analysis Control Laboratory until motherhood, and Bob worked for the Instrumentation Laboratory, later named the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory.

 

She leaves her husband of 48 years, Robert (Bob) John Schiesser of Harpswell, ME; a son, John George Schiesser of Acton; a daughter, Jeanne and her husband Gene Joseph Giunti of Brunswick ME; and five granddaughters, Katie Schiesser, Macy Giunti, Anna Schiesser, and twins, Kellie and Jillian Giunti. She is also survived by two sisters, Pauline Baker, of Decatur, AL and Jean Barnett, of Guntersville, AL. Predeceased by sisters, Inez Copeland, Ina Deaver and brother, Newman.

A Celebration of Her Life service was held in Shawsheen Funeral Home for family and friends on November 9, 2012.

Irene M. (Sullivan) Miksenas of Bedford 

Irene M. (Sullivan) Miksenas of Bedford died on Oct. 25, 2012. She was the loving mother of the late Ellen Miksenas and surviving children, Diane and her husband Robert Auerbach of MT, Cheryl Miksenas of Bedford, Frederick and his wife Allison Miksenas of Billerica, William and his wife Lisa Miksenas of Burlington, and Eileen Miksenas of Bedford. Devoted grandmother of Steven Miksenas, Hannah Miksenas, Justin Miksenas, Taylor Auerbach and the late Morgan Auerbach; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Irene was born and raised in Dorchester. She worked for Cains as an office manager and also taught piano prior to her marriage, then became a life-long homemaker. Later, she worked as a school van bus driver and a certified Nurses Aid. She is a past president of the Womens Auxiliary, American Legion Post #221 and was active in Bedford’s Council on Aging and a member of St. Michael’s Choir.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Michael’s Church in Bedford on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012. Burial was in Shawsheen Cemetery, Bedford.

Robert W. Hansen of Bedford

Robert W. "Bob" Hansen, a long-time resident of Bedford and active member of the Bedford community, died on October 16, 2012 at the age of 83.

He was the beloved husband of Eileen (Campbell) Hansen for 61 years. Loving father of two sons and a daughter, Alan of Billerica, Gary and his wife Barbara of Chatham, and Diane (Hansen) Lynch of Bedford. Grandfather of five cherished granchildren: Michael and his wife Jessica Lynch of CA; Matthew Lynch of Bedford; and Ryan, Tyler, and Ashley Hansen of Chatham. Great-grandfather of cherished great-grandsons, Braeden and Declan of CA. Brother-in-law of Clair Campbell and uncle of Lowell and Gordon Campbell, all of PEI, Canada.

Bob was an active member of the Bedford community. A veteran of the US Army, he was a member of VFW Post #1628, PPC + Chaplain, Scout Institutional Rep American Legion Post #221 (Bedford), Past Chairman of Legion programs Oratorical - Boys State - Student Trooper as well as Delegate District Five Middlesex County Council State Department Convention.

Family and friends gathered in Shawsheen Funeral Home on Sunday, October 21, 2012. Funeral Services were held on Monday, October 22, 2012 in the First Church of Christ Congregational, Bedford followed by burial with full Military Honors in Shawsheen Cemetery, Bedford.

V.N. Rao Kotcherlakota, Ph.D of Bedford died on Oct. 8, 2012 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington with his family by his side. He was 79 years old.

Funeral Services were held in the Newton Memorial Chapel on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012.

Janice R. (Silva) Snedeker of Bedford

Janice R. (Silva) Snedeker of Bedford died on Sept. 28, 2012 at the age of 82.

Born in Newton, MA to the late Arthur and Angelina Silva, she was a graduate of Newton High School class of 1947 and Radcliffe College, class of 1951. Mrs. Snedeker was a life-long homemaker who in later years worked in a nursing home, then with her husband at his steel rule die company Nu-Die Graphics and Lexington Alarm. She enjoyed reading, politics, socializing with her beloved nieces Dawn and Sandy, and long conversations with her dearest friend, Elaine. 

She was the beloved wife of William A. Snedeker III and loving mother of William Snedeker IV and his wife Sandra, Thomas Snedeker, and Paul Snedeker and his wife Cynthia. She will also be missed by her loving grandchildren, Brian, Brianna, Jennifer, Scott, and Matthew. She is also survived by brother-in-law John Snedeker and his wife Eileen as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Snedeker is pre-deceased by her sister Elizabeth Christenson and her husband Robert, and brother Arthur Silva and his wife Pauline.

The Funeral Service was held Friday Oct. 5, 2012 in Shawsheen Funeral Home.    

Algerd P. Kusa of Bedford

Algerd P. Kusa of Bedford died on Sept. 24, 2012 at the age of 93. He was the beloved husband of the late Josephine (Myslowski) Kusa.

Born in Boston on Feb. 17, 1919, Aldred was a Mechanical Engineer serving the military. He was also a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Germany. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as being outdoors and in his garden.   

He was the loving father of Marianne Kusa-Ryll and her husband Randall of Sterling; Ralph Kusa and his wife Marilyn of Wilmington; and Joseph Kusa and his wife Luba of Naples, FL; and loving grandfather of Benjamin Kusa and his wife Sveta, Peter Kusa and his wife Betsy, Samuel Kusa and his wife Marcy, Kelsey Kusa, Cara Kusa, Ginger Ryll, and Katrina Kusa. He is also survived by great-grandsons Joshua and Ryan and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Michael’s Church in Bedford on September 29, 2012. 

Barbara (Bishop) Sardzinski, Co-Owner of Bedford Jewelers

Barbara (Bishop) Sardzinski, of Bedford, died of congestive heart failure on Monday, Sept. 3, 2012 at the age of 68.

Born in Waltham Hospital on October 17th 1943, Barbara moved to Bedford in 1957, her family opening Bedford Jewelers after the closing of the Waltham Watch Factory. Barbara's high school class was the very first class to graduate from Bedford High School. After graduating high school, she attended the Chandler School for Women in Boston, studying to become a Scientific Research Secretary. She worked in this field until her father, Arthur G. Bishop, fell ill. At that time, she went into the family business: Bedford Jewelers.

Barbara became very involved with Bedford Jewelers and in the business community. She was the first woman invited to join the Bedford Rotary Club, a special honor to her because her father was a charter member. Barbara was also the first woman president of the Massachusetts and Rhode Island Jewelers Associations. She enjoyed designing custom jewelry and was recognized by National Jewelers Magazine as an outstanding woman in the jewelry industry.

In addition to being a prominent member of the jewelry business, Barbara loved spending time in her flower garden and especially, with her grandchildren. She loved her grandchildren a great deal. She was very proud of them and enjoyed showing off their pictures to family, friends, and even strangers. They held a special place in her heart (and her in theirs).

Barbara is survived by her husband of 46 years, Thomas Sardzinski; two sons, Mark Sardzinski and his wife Concetta of Billerica and Christopher Sardzinski of Bedford; three grandchildren, Sabrina, Samuel and Sophia; a sister, Shirley Bishop O’Connor of Chelmsford and a brother, Gordon Bishop of Bedford.

Marguerite "Sally" (Costello) Buttrick, a 33-year resident of Bedford

Marguerite "Sally" (Costello) Buttrick, age 88 and a resident of Edgewood Retirement Community of North Andover, MA died on August 31, 2012.   

Marguerite was born and grew up in North Andover, also living in Arlington for 25 years and Bedford for 33 years. She was the daughter of the late John W. Costello and Mary C. (Dunlop) Costello and sister of the late Irene M. Gosselin.

She is survived by husband Sidney H. Buttrick III, son John and his wife Sara of Bedford and their children, Daniel, his wife Darleen and their daughters Lydia Marguerite, and Emily Patricia, Jacob and his wife Heather Ryder and Michael. She is also survived by her daughter Gail Royal and her husband Peter Huddell, her children Ian, his wife Meghan, their daughter Kaylee Elyzabeth and son Camron Joseph; Lindsey, her husband Derek and their son Vincent Oliver. Nieces and nephews include Robert W. Jackson and his wife Charlotte, Nancy Jackson, Joanne Jackson, Alan Gosselin, Paul Gosselin and his wife Tina and Carol Gosselin and many grand nieces and nephews.

Marguerite was a graduate of Johnson High School in North Andover and Jackson College (now Tufts University), majoring in mathematics. After graduation she was hired as an engineer by Doble Engineering Company where she worked for five years and met her husband. After her children were in school, she taught at the Bartlett Private Elementary School and at Lexington Academy of the Holy Family before the Dutile School in Billerica MA where she taught for twenty-two years and made many friends among her fellow teachers until she retired in 1988.

An open house for family and friends in celebration of her life will be held on September 16 from 1 to 5 pm at 211 Carlisle Rd, Bedford, MA. Elizabeth T. Merkle of Lexington

Elizabeth (Terlingen) Merkle, age 89 of Lexington, died on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012. She was the beloved mother of Charles L. Merkle, Joan Ravinski, and Ellen Merkle.

Mrs. Merkle worked as an Adminstrative Director for MIT for many years.

Joseph Denaro, a life-long Bedford resident

Joseph Denaro of Bedford died on August 28, 2012. Born March 12, 1943, Joseph grew up in Bedford, graduated from the Bedford school system and Fitchburg State College, and received his Master’s degree from the University of Maryland. He taught for 22 years at the University of Maryland, Day Jr. High School in Newton, and Newton North High School. In 1985 he founded, together with his wife Rosanne, Patriot Machine and Eng. Co., Inc., in North Billerica, specializing in the manufacture of precision parts for several industries, including aircraft and medical.

Joseph was the beloved husband of Rosanne (LaVerde) Denaro of Bedford. Loving father of Beth Dilorio and her husband Paul of Bedford, Patrick Denaro and his wife Vikki of Maynard, Krista Mara and her husband John of Bedford, Carleen West of Bedford, and Kelly Stewart of Wakefield. Grandfather of Fritz and Graham Stadtlander; Benjamin and Meredith Denaro; Colby, John, and Kyle Mara; Brianna, Amanda, and Christine West; and Katy and Ryan Stewart. Brother of Ron Denaro and his wife Kathy of Hopkinton and Nancy Denaro of Fitchburg. Son-in-law of Rose LaVerde of Bedford. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Betty Butler Sawyer of Bedford's Carleton-Willard Village

Betty Butler Sawyer, a resident of Bedford's Carleton-Willard Villlage for 15 years, died on Monday, August 27, 2012 at the age of 90.

She was born in Evanston IL to Margaret (Converse) and John Butler. Her generosity and energy were remarkable. With a sharp mind and a big heart she cared deeply for those who were less fortunate, especially women. She was among the first Ada Comstock Scholars at Smith, graduating with a B.A. in 1976. After receiving an M.Ed. from Antioch she counseled women re-entering the workforce. Later her counseling skills focused on giving spiritual direction. She was a consultant to parishes in the Episcopal Diocese of MA. and led retreats. Time after time she took on leadership roles, from Senior Warden at St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church in Marion to Companion-in-Charge of the Society of the Companions of the Holy Cross and finally President of the Resident's Council at Carleton-Willard Village in Bedford.

She loved her family: daughters Jean Sawyer Railton and her husband Mark of Hingham, Lisa Sawyer and her husband Darrell Hendrick of Easthampton, Rev. Kathryn White and her husband John of Woodstock CT, and sons James and John Sawyer, both deceased. She is also survived by grandchildren Ryan Railton of Boston, Charlotte Railton of Marshfield, Jessica White of Pomfret CT, and Katrina Tober and her husband Ben of Dedham; and great-grandchildren Ava, Noah and Aaron.

Memories of sailing on Buzzards Bay gave her joy to the end.

Ronald F. Miller of Bedford

Ronald F. Miller of Bedford died on August 26, 2012.

He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth "Betty" (McNeany) Miller of Bedford. He is also survived by a brother, Kenneth Miller. Ron was the brother of the late George Miller.

Ron died peacefully with Betty by his side at Carleton-Willard, where he received exceptional care.

Warren E. Neil, formerly of Bedford

Warren E. Neil, age 85 of Salisbury and formerly of Bedford, died on August 20, 2012.

He was the beloved husband of Marian (Julianno) Neil for 62 years and loving father of  Montajean Neil, Wayne and his wife Angela Neil, Julianne and her husband Robert Marchenonis, Tish and her husband Daniel Roy, and Christine and her husband James O'Shaughnessy. Grandfather of Jennifer, Christina, Daniel, Neil, Victoria, Liam, and Grace and great-grandfather of two. Also survived by sister Lorraine McCarthy, Jesse and Honey Neil, Barbara and many nieces and nephews.

He was born on April 27, 1927 in Everett, MA, son of the late Emma and Jesse Neil. He served in the U.S. Navy and after his discharge, was employed as an auto mechanic. He owned his own business in Merrimack, NH for 20 years. He is loved by many, friend and business associates, and well known for his comments ... 'Where's my million dollars?' He loved life and lived it to the fullest while he could.

Warren was a member of the Auto Association, past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council #5292, Lecturer, president of Holy Name Society and the Couples Club of St. Michael's Church, Bedford.

Fredrick Gordon of Chelmsford, Bedford's Veterans Affairs Officer, died on Thursday, August 16, 2012.

He was the beloved husband of Mary (Haley) Gordon and loving father of Pamela and her husband Torrance Hambrick of Atlanta, GA and James and his wife Joyce Gordon of Louisville, KY. Grandfather of James P. Gordon, Torrance Hambrick, Jr., Jillian Gordon, and Janelle Gordon. Son of Alice (McMillan) Gordon and the late Samuel Gordon. He is also survived by three sisters, four brothers, a host of nieces and nephews, several cousins, and many special friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012 in Shawsheen Funeral Home from 5 to 8pm. A Memorial Service will be held 5:30-6:30pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.

Burial with full military honors, Air Force, will be in Jacksonville Florida National Cemetery on Mon., Aug. 27, 2012.

Rita F. (Kelley) Campbell of Billerica, formerly of Bedford, died on Aug. 15, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward “Pop” Campbell.

Loving mother of Patricia Payne and her husband Jim of Billerica, Jo-Anne T. Smith and her husband Cliff of Mansfield, Michael E. Campbell and his wife Pam of Bedford, and the late Rita Behnke. Loving grandmother of Christopher and Elizabeth Payne, Amy Campbell, and Kelly Nolan. Also survived by a sister, Jean Harris of Revere, and several nieces and nephews.

Rita was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary and long-time volunteer at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford.

Orvil Lee Judge of Boston, a U.S. Navy Veteran

Orvil Lee Judge of Boston died on July 24, 2012 at the age of 79. He was U.S. Navy veteran during the Korea era  and worked as a Mechanical Engineer in research and development. Mr. Judge was the husband of the late Mary E. Judge.

Mr. Judge was the loving father of Shirley Barry and her partner Ken Casale of Medford, Stephen Judge and his wife Joyce of Hyde Park, Catherine Judge of Boston, Mary E. Gordon-Judge of North Billerica, and the late William Judge. Loving grandfather of Gia and Michele Veglia, Michael and Lisa Judge, Jesi Foster, Eric and Christopher Judge, and Alisa, Timothy John, and Christopher Graceffa; loving great-grandfather of Aiden and Zoey Foster. He is also survived by brothers, one sister, and several nieces and nephews.

Noreen A. (McGovern) of Billerica died on July 12, 2012. She was the loving partner of Pat Perrotta of Billerica.

Loving mother of William A. Damery and his wife Jodi of Manchester, NH and Michael J. Damery and his wife Marlene of New Ipswich, NH and loving grandmother of four. Also survived by sisters, Ann Gray, Lorraine Dunham, and Katherine McGovern; brothers, Jim McGovern and Murph McGovern; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Pete McGovern.

Vlad Yakov, 50-year resident of Bedford

Vlad Yakov, a 50-year resident of Bedford, died on July 2, 2012.

Born in Peabody, Mr. Yakov was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was employed by E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in the cafeteria as a line cook. He lived on South Road for many years before moving to Ashby Place.

Mr. Yakov is survived by his nephew, Daniel J. Jacavanco of Chelmsford.

Hazel L. (Welcome) Mariani of Bedford, Mother of 911 victim

Hazel L. (Welcome) Mariani of Bedford died on July 2, 2012 at age 92. She was the beloved husband of the late Louis Mariani and loving mother of the late Louis Neil Mariani, murdered in the 911 attacks, a passenger on Flight 175.

Mrs. Mariani is survived by her children, son Bruce E. Mariani of West Townsend and daughter Christine Mariani of Bedford; granddaughter Lauren Peters of NH, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-granchild.

Interment will be in Shawsheen Cemetery at a later date.  

James Cook Jr., of Chelmsford, formerly of Bedford

James Cook Jr. of Chelmsford, formerly of Bedford, died on June 21, 2012.

A long-time resident of Bedford, James was a founding member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Bedford and was a machinist for Raytheon Company for many years. He was a Cub Scout leader and Bedford Little League baseball coach. A U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, Mr. Cook was a member of Bedford's American Legion Post #221.

Mr. Cook was the beloved husband of Marion (Elrick). Loving father of Susan and her husband Joe Iozzo of Billerica, Linda and her husband Denis Beaudoin of Chelmsford, and Donald Cook and his wife Cheryl of Billerica. Grandfather of Robert Adamson; Courtney Powers; Joe, Nicole, and Thomas Iozzo; and Rachael, Derrick, and Jessica Beaudoin. Also survived by 7 great-grandchildren and a cousin, Margaret Blomberg of GA.

Anthony J. "Tony" Katin of Bedford

Anthony J. "Tony" Katin of Bedford passed away on June 9, 2012 at the age of 62. He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, life-long companion, uncle, cousin, and friend. Tony was an expert woodworker and owner of Pesky Business pest control. He loved his work and sharing good times with family and friends, especially with all of his 10 grandchildren. He will be greatly missed and remembered by all who knew him.

Karin L. Prugnarola-Ballard, RN of Bedford on died June 5, 2012. She was the loving wife of Joseph M. Ballard and devoted mother of Gina Ballard of Bedford.

Charles J. Horan, Jr. of Arlington and formerly of Woburn died on Tuesday, May 14, 2012 at the age of 67.

Born in Cambridge, Mr. Horan worked for Honeywell, retiring from their Billerica office.

He was the loving brother of Polly Lansil and loving uncle of Clifford Lansil and Sue Lansil. He is also survived by cousins, Richard and his wife Joan Freeman of Bedford, as well as Mark, Dennis, and Paul Freeman; and many caring and loving friends.

John R. Hill of Bedford

John R. Hill of Bedford died on April 18, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy R. (Sheehey).

Mr. Hill was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving his country during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a typesetter and after retiring, continued working as a Custodian for the Bedford School system.

He was the loving father of Lesley S. Sickman of Chandler, AZ and Ellen D. Oehme and her husband Scott of Groton. Grandfather of Whitney and Jordan Sickman. Father-in-law of the late Lenny Sickman.

Great-grandmother of Elisa, Samantha, Derek, William, and VeraGrace. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late "Gubby," "Pat," and Joe Genetti.

Edith Renshaw (Painter) Harrington of Carleton-Willard Village in Bedford

Edith Renshaw (Painter) Harrington, age 91, passed away after a long illness on April 5, 2012. Born Edith Renshaw Painter in Muncy, PA on March 20, 1921, she was the daughter of the late George Grantham and Edith Dorothy (DeWitt) Painter. Edith married Edward Neal Harrington in 1948. They resided in Concord where they raised a family for 35 years until moving to Lexington. Edith attended Bucknell College and finished her education, after many years as a homemaker, at Northeastern University with a degree in Library Science. Most of her professional life was spent working at Bentley University in Waltham.

Edith was a accomplished seamstress, an avid reader, and well traveled. She was graced with a sweet temperment, a wry wit, and had mastered the art of listening. She had many friends. Her husband predeceased her in 1992.

She is survived by her three children: Neal Harrington and his partner Sarah of Warren, VT; Jane Harrington and her husband Robert Bedell of Bala Cynwyd, PA; and Beth Harrington of Minneapolis, MN; as well as two grandsons, Sam Lawrence and Nico DeWitt Harrington. She is predeceased by her sister Dorothy Allen and brother George Painter.

Rudolph W. Ebacher of Bedford, Veteran and Director of Research Engineering for NASA

Rudolph W. Ebacher of Bedford died on April 1, 2012. He was the beloved husband of the late Vivienne M. (Mead) Ebacher.

After graduating from high school, Mr. Ebacher completed an apprenticeship as a tool and die maker at the Watertown Arsenal. Mr. Ebacher served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Machinist Mate, First Class, in N. Africa, Sicily, and France. After the war, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Cum Laude, from the University of New Hampshire. Mr. Ebacher then served in the U.S. Army Air Force and the U.S. Air Force as a Lieutenant in the Strategic Air Command and earned a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Mexico. Mr. Ebacher held a variety of engineering positions in the U.S. government in the nuclear, defense, aerospace, and transportation fields. He was the Director of Research Engineering for NASA's Electronic Research Center in Cambridge during the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo Space programs. At the Department of Transportation, Mr. Ebacher developed a test track for the improvement of rapid transit vehicles and participated in the deployment of San Francisco's Bay Area Rapid Transit System. Mr. Ebacher spoke several languages, read widely, and was an avid listener of Italian Opera and classical music. He was an active member of the Catholic Church.

Mr. Ebacher was the loving father of Jon Allen Ebacher and his wife Jill T. Wannemacher of Jacksonville, FL; Dr. Elizabeth Vivienne Ebacher of Easthampton, MA; Christopher Mead Ebacher and his wife Joanne M. Gravell of Dudley, MA; and the late Timothy James Ebacher, Esq. Also survived by daughter-in-law Ellen M. Ebacher. Grandfather of Susan E. Ebacher, Jon V. Ebacher, Nicholas J. Ebacher, Max R. Ebacher, and Marie T. Ebacher. Great-grandfather of Arianna C. Ebacher, James G. Ebacher, and Benjamin B. Ebacher. Brother of 6 (5 deceased); survived by brother Donald Ebacher. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Angela Fedele of Lecanto, FL and formerly of Waltham died on April 3, 2012. She was the loving mother of Richard L. Fedele, Sr. of Bedford, the late Linda (O'Connell) of NY, and the late Patrick of NJ. Loving grandmother of 12 grandchildren and dear great-grandmother.

She was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Mary (Palmieri) Bibbo of Newton and sister of the late Ann (Bright-Halverson) of Hawaii. Life-long companion of the late Joseph Santoro of Watertown.

She was a retired receptionist for EG&G of Waltham.

Rev. Elaine Edith DeVries-Smith of Bedford, RN and Ordained Baptist Minister

Rev. Elaine Edith DeVries-Smith, 88 years old of Bedford, died peacefully at home on March 27, 2012 after a long illness.

Born February 25, 1924 in Aberdeen, SD, she was the youngest of Margaret (Montgomery) and Cornelius DeVries' ten children.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Rev. Chester L. Smith, Ph.D. and four children: Judith L. O'Donnell of Hubbardston; Cheryl Y. Wells of Hockessin, Delaware; Kevin R. Smith of Glen Arm, Maryland; and Geoffrey D. Smith of Jacksonville, FL. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Amy O'Donnell, Sean O'Donnell, Mark O'Donnell, Matthew Wells, and Kenneth Wells; and two great-grandchildren, Evan and Dylan O'Donnell.

A retired Registered Nurse, she was a graduate of Presentation School of Nursing, Helena, Montana. She furthered her education as a graduate of Gordon College and Andover-Newton Theological Seminary, taking a second career as a Pastoral Counselor.

In 1996, she was ordained a Baptist Minister and served in Church leadership in the American Baptist Macedonia Ministry and American Baptist USA National Committee for Christian Education, as well as serving as a Sunday School teacher and Deaconess in local churches. She and her husband helped to establish the First Baptist Church of Bedford in 1956.

She was involved with the Episcopal Cursillo and served as Spiritual Leader in the sister spiritual renewal programs of Tres Dias and Jubilee Journey.

Her family remembers her sense of humor and her love of a good joke on others. She was an expert seamstress, wrote poetry, and had an expansive collection of Teddie Bears.

Howard M. Deardorff Jr., age 51 of Bedford, died on March 11, 2012. He was the husband of Nancy Jo (Martines) Deardorff.

Loving father of Howard M. "Howie" Deardorff III of Montana and Kelli Jo Deardorff of Bedford. Brother of Kim F. Bailey of Clinton and uncle of Joe Clement.

Charles P. Genetti, life-long resident of Bedford

Charles P. "Charlie" Genetti of Bedford passed away March 7, 2012 at age 87. He was the beloved husband of Esther "Sis" (Sullivan) Genetti for 66 years.

Charlie was born in Bedford on Jan. 10, 1925 to the late Dominic and Philomena Genetti. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy and was a long-time member of American Legion Post #221. Charlie worked for the town of Bedford as Superintendent of Roads for 35 years and was a member of St. Michael's Parish.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven children: Frederick and his wife Deborah Ann Genetti, Elizabeth and her husband Keith Corey, Rosemary Genetti, Sandra and her husband Charles Duffy, Charles and his wife Edna Genetti, Michael and his wife Annemarie Genetti, and Patrick Genetti. He was the beloved grandfather of twelve and great-grandpa Charlie to eleven. He is also survived by sister-in-law Alberta Genetti and sister-in-law Joan and her husband Robert Yanosick.

Charlie is pre-deceased by nine siblings: Adeline, Sarah, Walter "Mike," Louise, Nick, Frank, Fred, Dominic, and Mary.

Richard P. Callahan Sr. of Lexington, formerly of Bedford, died on March 6, 2012 at age 73.

Mr. Callahan was a U.S. Air Force veteran and owner of RP Callahan Plumbing and Heating. 

He was the beloved husband of Mary (Guelli) Callahan.

Loving father of Kathleen Callahan and her partner Craig Sams of Pepperell, Christine Callahan-Blair and her husband Doug of Bedford, Richard P. Callahan Jr. and his wife Winnie of Dunstable, and Colleen Poley and her husband David of Newburyport, and step-father of William P. Corbett Jr. of Bedford. Loving grandfather of Paul Hennigan, Richard Hennigan, Jason Blair, Samuel Blair, Amanda Callahan, Sean Callahan, Ryan Clark, and step-grandsons Seamus Corbett and Cannon Corbett. Brother of William J. Callahan, Beatrice Callahan, Martin Callahan, Michael Callahan, and the late John Callahan and the late Daniel Callahan. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Charles R. "Bob" Andrews of Yarmouthport, retired Bedford Firefighter

Charles R. "Bob" Andrews of Yarmouthport died on Friday, March 2, 2012 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was 75 years old and the husband of Lillian M. (McHatten) Andrews. They had been married for 25 years.

Born in Malden the son of the late George and Elsie (Bayer) Andrews, Bob was raised and educated in Lexington and Bedford. He was a graduate of Concord-Carlisle High School.

Bob served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged with the rank of Private in 1958.

After returning from the Marine Corps, Bob was a firefighter with the Bedford Fire Department for 28 years. He retired in 1990 as a Lieutenant and moved to South Yarmouth and then to Yarmouthport in 2001.

During retirement, Bob worked for the town of Yarmouth as a groundkeeper at the Bayberry Hills Golf Course.

Bob was a founding member, along with his good friend Ralph Hayes, of the Colonial Treasure Hunters Association in Bedford. He enjoyed spending time in his yard and took great pride and consideration in everything that he did.

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by two sons, Matthew Andrews and his wife Chheji of Yarmouthport and Jeffrey Marion and his wife Kerri of Nashua, NH; three daughters, Cheryl Sampson and her husband Peter of Townsend, Venessa Marion and her partner Keith of Billerica, and Jessica Marrion of Lowell; three brothers, Wayne Andrews of NH, Rodney Andrews of Billerica, and Alan Andrews of Billerica; twelve grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was pre-deceased by a son, Daniel R. Andrews.

Visiting hours were held in Hallett Funeral Home in South Yarmouth on Friday, March 9th. A graveside service was held in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Chelmsford on Saturday, March 10, 2012.

Arthur "Pat" Genetti, a life-long resident of Bedford

Arthur "Pat" Genetti, age 98 of Bedford passed away at home on Saturday, March 3, 2012; he was the husband of the late Roberta M. (Hazell) Genetti.

Pat was born in Bedford, MA Aug. 11, 1913, son of the late Guiseppe and Philomena (Palumbo) Genetti formerly of Italy. He graduated from Lexington High School and attended Bentley University for accounting.

Pat served in Co. 487 as a Staff Sgt Medic in the U.S. Army on the European Front during WWII; he was present at the Battle of the Bulge and visited Hitler's Eagles Nest. Pat joined the American Legion in 1946 and was an active member until the last few years. He was the oldest living member of Bedford's Post #221.

Pat worked for many years as an accountant and dispatcher at Lexington Sand and Gravel. He was the Tax Collector in the town of Bedford for 31 years and served on four scholarship committees: Bedford High School, the American Legion, the PTA, and the Bedford Progressive Club. Pat worked for the March of Dimes Campaign for 35 years and for 30 years as treasurer. He helped form the Bedford Youth Activities Committee, which included Little League, Pony League and basketball and was an umpire for Little League and Pony League baseball for 47 years. Pat was Bedford's first Park Commissioner. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Bedford his entire life and helped raise money for the new church in the '50s. He was treasure of "St. Mike's" for many years and a member of Bedford's Knights of Columbus Council 5292.

Pat leaves his sister Florence Grace of Bedford, daughter Roberta (Bobbie) Genetti Price Weller of Lawrence, son George of FL, beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his daughter Patricia Thisted and son Arthur Jr., as well as brothers, Joseph and Albert "Gubby" Genetti.

David M. Kilduff of Bedford died on Feb. 27, 2012 after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Mary Beth (Tooher) of Bedford and loving father of Kaitlan Kilduff of Burlington and Allyson and Briana Kilduff of Bedford. Loving grandfather of Xavier Kilduff and Ivy May Kilduff.

David was the brother of Sharon Brown of Brockton, Theresa Sweet of CA, John Kilduff III of Medford, Kevin Kilduff of WY, and Tim Kilduff of UT. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his best friend and dog, Mack.

Barbara R. (Andrews) Smith of Bedford died on Feb. 17, 2012 at age 76.

Born in Medford, MA, Barbara was a former employee of Pharmalucence in Bedford. She enjoyed her grandchildren and reading.

She was the beloved wife of Robert W. Smith of Bedford and loving mother of Jana and her husband Raymond Beyrand of Bloomington, MN and Jeffrey Smith of Bedford. Grandmother of Chelsea and Hailey Beyrand.

Helen K. Feehan of Arlington

Helen K. (Valliere) Feehan of Arlington died on Feb. 9, 2012. She was the wife of the late Walter E. Feehan.

Mrs. Feehan was the sister of the late Veronica (Valliere) Naas, Henry Valliere, Francis Valliere, and Leo Valliere. She was a retired Polaroid employee and is survived by several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012 in St. Eulalia Church in Winchester; burial was in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Frederick Marcos of Bedford died on February 1, 2012. Born in Beverly, MA, Mr. Marcos was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked as a mason.

He was buried in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne with full military honors on Feb. 7, 2012.

Joseph R. O'Neill of Bedford, retired Raytheon employee

Joseph R. O'Neill of Bedford died on Jan. 19, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Theresa (Shannon) O'Neill.

Mr. O'Neill was raised in Belmont and graduated from Belmont High School. He was a 38-year employee of Raytheon and also served as a Special Police Officer in the Bedford Police Dept. A member of Bedford's American Legion Post #221, he as a veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Mr. O'Neill was the loving father of Carol A. Brouillette of Nashua, NH; Amy O'Neill of Nashua, NH; and Thomas J. O'Neill and his wife Beth of Reading. Dear grandfather of Kristian and Michael Brouillette, and Sean, Liam, and Erin O'Neill. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mr. O'Neill was the brother of the late Martin J. O'Neill Jr.

Frances "Franny" E. (DeVenezio) Curley of Falmouth and formerly of Bedford, died on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 after a long illness. Franny was the beloved wife of Edward J. Curley. Loving mother of Judith Ernst and her husband Harry of Sagamore, Russell Curley and his wife Theresa of Billerica, Steven Curley and his wife Cynthia of Moorpark, CA, Kevin Curley of Falmouth and the late Edward M. Curley. Dear grandmother of Eric and Elizabeth Critzer; Lauren, Michael, and Dylan Curley; and Ava and Hunter Curley. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Florence E. (Price) McNair-Pasquale of Worcester and formerly of Bedford died on Jan. 4, 2012. She was the wife of the late William J. McNair and the late Dominic Pasquale.

Mrs. Pasquale was the loving mother of Maureen Pasquale of Northampton; Stephen McNair and his wife Peggy of Shrewsbury; and Thomas McNair and his wife Carol of Waterbury Center, VT; and devoted grandmother of Corey McNair, Kevin McNair, and Chris Pasquale. She is also survived by nephews Dan Price, Jack Price, and Richard Price.

She was predeceased by a brother Thomas Price and was the aunt of the the late William Price.

Florence loved her family and pets.

Eleanor F. Burke, of Bedford, died on Jan. 1, 2012 at the age of 91.

She was the beloved wife of the late William F. Burke. Loving mother of Linda Burke of NJ and William F. Burke Jr. and his wife Darlene of Billerica. She was the devoted grandmother of Kim and Kathy and great-grandmother of Justin. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews an was the sister of the late Donald, Dot, Walter, John, and Paul.

Born in Biddeford, ME on Nov. 9, 1920, Mrs. Burke was a homemaker.
